Service Description

Mental Health First Aid from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. Mental Health First Aiders gain lifesaving skills to provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and/or experiencing a crisis. Most of us might know how to help someone if we saw them having a heart attack - we’d start CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) - or, at the very least, call 9-1-1. But too few of us would know how to respond if we saw someone having a panic attack or if we were concerned that a friend or co-worker might be showing signs of alcoholism or suicidal ideations.Mental Health First Aid takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use problems by improving understanding and providing an action plan, teaching people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental illness and/or substance use disorder. When more people are equipped with the tools they need to start dialoguing about mental health, more people can get the help they need. Mental Health First Aiders are a vital link between someone experiencing a mental health and/or substance use challenge and appropriate support. Valued at $170/person. 3-year certifications issued by Fort Collins CPR and First Aid are valid for three years at just $40/year. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations need to be received with a full 24-hours notice or participant(s) are subject to a $35 fee. If a minimum of 24-hour notice is received a refund of 50% is awarded.
